This is a project I just drafted up for a customer. The customer allowed me to make any style coffee table as long as it is 24'' by 48''. I was thrilled to be able to design a project exactly the way I want. This table will be solid Mahogany with Tiger Maple drawer fronts. Table will have 3 drawers that pull out on the front and 3 that pull out on back. Most tables have false drawers on back or none but I thought this would be a nice addition to the table. 4 Mahogany tapered legs will have fan ellipses, stringing, and cross-banding inlay on them. Top will have herring bow edge banding made up of Purpleheart and Yellowheart veneers, a Purpleheart and Yellowheart star inlay with quarter fans in each corner along with various stringing and cross-banding along edges.
Below is the front view I drafted showing exactly half of the front the right side will be the same as the left.
Below is the plan view looking down on the table. The right side of the drawing shows just the top. The left side shows the inside of the table as if you are looking through it.
Below is a close up of the leg detail.

This project was inspired by the father and son cabinet makers John and Thomas Seymour that made some of the best Federal furniture ever made in Boston MA starting around 1790 and continued throughout the early 1800s. Original Seymour furniture is highly desired by collectors and can be seen in museums throughout the country.
